Does it ever happen to you? They want a splash page. They want a video that starts when the page is opened. Or the ever-loving mother-effing background music on autoplay, with no player or button to turn the damned thing off. Yeah we know these things are totally wrong, and I run from these clients. But some other things that maybe the client wants, and we think they are wrong. But the wrongness is coming from our perspective. How do you evaluate their request in a non-partisan way? This article goes over how to be prepared and how to answer and explain, and perhaps get your sensibility thru to the client.

    Key reminders are: (a) listen and interpret (b) ditch the arrogance and remember the site demographic (c) always communicate professionally (d) cool idea about A/B testing
