So agree with you. I want to wince when I read that someone is using a marketing tool to connect with people. Social media is SOCIAL - it was created to connect people, right?

I love the idea of signing on with the intent of helping someone solve a problem and trying to give back. The design community has been so good to me, I'm glad to offer up what I have learned to help someone else.

Great article, worth a complete read. (Skip the comments, though.)

Key reminders are: (a) listen and interpret (b) ditch the arrogance and remember the site demographic (c) always communicate professionally (d) cool idea about A/B testing

Ah, there's a lot more than that [in the article which I've not listed]. Good find!

Oh this is so true! I am guilty (as I am sure many are).

I have started saving the many useful tuts in a special place and I try to (at least once a month) go back and actually go through them.

Professional development is as important (maybe more so) than actually doing the work.

If we, as designers, don't continue to grow and learn and hone our craft, we are certainly doomed!

Amen, sister.

I still can't get over the designers who brag about their perfect code - who are obviously using front page and tables. Tables for pete's sake. That's not perfect code... perfectly awful maybe, but certainly not semantic or valid.
